Demonstrate your Compliance with CCPA
CCPA stands for the California Consumer Privacy Act. It is a comprehensive privacy law in the state of California, designed to accord consumer protection and enhance privacy rights for residents of California. The law came into effect on January 1, 2020.
CCPA grants California consumers several rights, including:
- The right to know what personal information is being collected about them
- The right to request the deletion of their personal information
- The right to opt out of the sale of their personal information
- The right to non-discrimination for exercising their privacy rights
CCPA applies not only to businesses physically located in California but also to businesses that collect personal information from California residents, even if the business is located outside of California or the United States. Entities that have to comply with CCPA are for-profit businesses that meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Businesses that have an annual gross revenue of $25 million or more.
- Businesses that buy, receive, or sell the personal information of 50,000 or more California residents, households, or devices per year.
- Businesses that derive 50% or more of their annual revenue from selling the personal information of California residents.
